GREETINGS FROM JAPAN
"It's 7am on the 16th of July in Tokyo when I'm writing this... lord only knows what time that equals for all of you in other timezones. We've done the first three shows and have two more to go and I gotta say, we're having a damn good time up here. Feels good, feels real good. We'll be heading back to the US in another week to do the Mark & Brian and Leno... and then before can get used to my own bed again we'll be back on the road zigzagging thru Europe. the BON JOVI Summer Roadtrip. We'll see you out there." - JBJ

From all reports from the band, the shows in JAPAN have been a terrific beginning to this tour.

Check out the
TOUR PAGE SOON for complete set lists and reports from the road!

MERCHANDISE
There's a full line of tour merchandise for sale at shows... a lot to choose from. In Japan, there was a tour shirt with artwork that looked like a 1950's Godzilla movie with Godzilla's foot crushing a stadium dome... There are t-shirts (with a few different designs) and babydoll tees,
baseball jerseys and tank-tops, track suits and SIDS hats (like JBJ wore for the encore in Tokyo)... there are tour posters and regular posters and tour programs and stickers and pins and badges and keychains... and more and more tour merchandise is being designed each day.

LOS ANGELES
The boys return home to the states via LA where they will be performing on the KLOS Mark & Brian Show on Monday, JULY 24th. The radio broadcast is being done from The Key Club (formerly Billboard Live) on Sunset. This is a radio station show and the only opportunity to obtain tickets is by winning them from that radio station (this is NOT a regular Bon Jovi show.)
As of now, they are schedule to be on air from 9-10am (remember, things can change) before heading over to the NBC Studios in Burbank that afternoon to tape THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO. That tapes in late afternoon and aires on NBC stations the same night. BON JOVI will be performing "IT'S MY LIFE"

THE ASBURY PARK CHARITY GIG
When all the paperwork was done and all the numbers tallied, BON JOVI raised $180,000.00 at the Charity Concert in Asbury Park on June 29th. The money was divided amongst the three charities the show benefited: The Valerie Fund (thanks to the donation from Bon Jovi 100 patients will be going to a one-week summer camp for children with cancer this year,) The Kylie Jae Monica Fund (which benefited the ill infant of a local police officer) and the Monmouth / Ocean County Food Bank (their truck died just days before the charity show and the money donated to them will pay for a new truck to bring food to the shelters and people who need it most.)

Jon Bon Jovi buying FoodBank new truck

Published in the Asbury Park Press 7/04/00

By JOHN A. HARNES
COASTAL MONMOUTH BUREAU

THANKS TO A $50,000 donation from Middletown rocker Jon Bon Jovi, and Concerts East, the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean counties is going to be able to replace its largest truck, said Brooke Tarabour, executive director of Spring Lake-based FoodBank.

"Our big truck died a week ago Thursday, and we didn't know what we were going to do," Tarabour said Friday.

"Tony Pallagrosi, one of the owners of Concerts East in Red Bank, who produces concerts for Jon Bon Jovi, called the other day," she said. "I was just worrying about what to do, and he could tell by the sound of my voice that something was wrong and he asked me what was the matter."

Pallagrosi said his company has always supported the FoodBank, as has Jon Bon Jovi. When he learned that the FoodBank was having problems with their big truck he said "I think I may be able to find you a new truck," he remembers saying.

"I am stunned and I am blown away by the generousity of Jon Bon Jovi, Concerts East and L&H Supply, in Lakewood, which donated the big truck five years ago, and maintains our four trucks for free," Tarabour said.

"We do a lot of charity work," Pallagrosi said.

Such as the Jan. 31, 1998 "Come Together: Jon Bon Jovi and Friends" benefit concert that raised funds for the family of Sgt. Patrick King, a slain Long Branch police officer.

"We are so thankful to Jon Bon Jovi for always being so generous to his community," Tarabour said.

Tarabour said L&H Supply is working with the FoodBank so that it can buy a replacement 24-foot-long box truck at cost.

The FoodBank is currently raising funds to build a $3.4 million, 35,000-square-foot facility on a 9.5-acre lot it owns at Route 66 and Wayside Road in Neptune. So far the FoodBank has raise $1.5 million in its building fund, Tarabour said.
