I watched the sky tonight...
as Venus floated gracefully
under the cocked thumbnail moon
and I cried
The heavens looked so peaceful here
but far away the air was thick
where buildings fell, the world was sick
and people died
They had no time tonight
to view the night sky there
as cries and moans filled the air
and ashes blocked the stars
As love ones cried everywhere
strangers came again as one
to work until this job gets done
and people helped from near and far
But in a land so far away
others danced in the street
thinking they had caused defeat
of a nation strong
Not knowing love, they did not care
they celebrated hate
to emotions they could not relate
they laughed, they knew no wrong
I cried for people never known
I cried for children left alone
I cried for hatred to be gone
I watched the sky and cried......
