I've wanted many things in life,
but learned to do without.
Even though I had what I needed,
I felt a need to shout.
Worked hard for many years, I did,
and things, I have none to show.
But things, the newness does wear off,
and this is what I know.
I never knew such loneliness,
with love so close at hand.
I never knew I could be so helpless,
love slipping thru like fine sand.
I close my hand to try and stop
what I'm scared I'll lose.
But the sand keeps slipping thru,
till someone else, she will choose.
But I know in time I'll surely win,
and have her each day to kiss.
Until that day does come to me,
I never knew such miss.
