HAND OF NIGHT

Scattered lights seem like gems floating amongst the trees,
darting and disappearing before you find their source.

Mysterious noises that seem to make your skin crawl,
coming from nowhere, but still there like a ghost's voice.

Night frightens many, as they hide, instead of search,
for the reason of their unfound fear.

While the sleeve of darkness is welcomed by many,
because the peaceful darkness they do endear.

Afraid to accept, and realize it is there waiting for them,
many miss the beauty and pleasures of night time fun.

And, like a child, they go to a place that seems safe,
hiding like the lights and noises outside, they run.

So smile instead of fright,
at the peaceful show of lights.

And laugh, instead of fear,
the noises that you hear.

Like a mistress with open arms,
the night will do no harm.

For it is there for you,
so take the time to view.

Then, after you've soothed your needless fears and tumble off to bed,
your sleep will be a peaceful deep, for dreams will fill your head.
