"Disagreements arise over GCs budget"

About halfway through this article there is a section addressing the Grove City budget estimates for 2007.

Ted Berry proposed amendments including the addition of $30,000 for a
dual purpose basketball/tennis court in Hoover Park which was approved.

Berry in a second amendment tried to remove language about the
extension of sewer and water lines across Grovebrook Golf Course, under I-71
and down to Fryer Park.

I am adamantly opposed to Grovebrook being developed, Berry wrote in
a memo to the city. The golf course is the last large open space left
in the core of our city. Berry said.

Council also denied Berrys request for an amendment to allocate
$400,000 for additional parks and green space acquisition.

"How are the Parks?"

An excellent article that discusses park facilities in Central Ohio suburbs, including Grove City.

We must point out two issues that distort the picture painted of Grove City in the park comparison tables in this article.  First, Grove City population is currently at approximately 32,000 - not 27,000. Second, the 442 acres of park space referenced in the article includes 190 acres of flood plain in Talbot Park that are effectively unusable for recreation.

With these adjustments the "Residents per Acre" metric for Grove City more than doubles from 61 to 127.
