Summary

Vampires and mortals around the world have been having a similar dream: two red haired sisters suffering an unspeakable fate. At the same time, the vampire Lestat is planning to hold a concert at the Cow Palace where thousands of other immortals plan to carry out his punishment. In addition to all that, an ancient one has been awakened, Akasha, Queen of the Damned, who's only goal is to "save" our world. She travels around the world destroying vampires who are against her plans. Then after the concert, she abducts the Brat Prince to make him her confidant. The two journey to distant lands and Akasha unleashes her plan to bring peace to humans the only way she sees possible: by destroying the human males.

Meanwhile a small group of surviving vampires including Louis and Gabrielle gather at the Sonoma compound where they learn of the origin of vampires from Maheret, one of the twins in the dreams. After visiting several third world nations and slaughtering the men, Lestat and Akasha join them. A heated debate rises regarding Akasha's plans, and her children all turn against her. And it is here in the Sonoma compound that an ancient prophecy comes true and the Mother of all vampires is destroyed by one as ancient as her, the other twin in the dreams. By consuming Akasha's heart and brain, the one who slew her, Mekare, manages to prevent the vampires from parishing.

Following the ordeal, Lestat is left with the strength of the ancients, thanks to Akasha's powerful blood. He pays a visit to Talamasca Superior General David Talbot and offers him the Dark Gift, which is refused.
