Louis

Louis was 25 when Lestat chose him to be his fledgling. As a mortal he was tall and thin, with eyes like emeralds and long, delicate fingers, an image that would be preserved for all time. Though he is among the weakest of the vampires, he is also the most human.

Louis de Pointe du Lac was born in 1766 and lived most of his life in Louisiana. As a young man, he owned a plantation just outside of New Orleans. After the death of his brother, he sought after death, and was given it by a vampire named Lestat. Although he initially wanted to be a vampire, Louis immediately regretted his decision when he realized that he must feed on living creatures to survive.

After being made into a vampire, Louis mourned the loss of his mortality. The guilt of taking a human life overwhelmed him, so he chose to feed off animals instead for several years. When Lestat created Claudia, Louis loved her more than he had ever loved anyone else. She was his greatest love and with her death, died all his passion, and left him with only the heart the mourned her.

Unlike his maker, Louis prefers intellect to action. He'd rather ponder matters over, than jump right into them. He denies himself the luxuries of the 20th/21st century and chooses to live alone in shacks and other crumbling establishments. He wears clothes that are old and worn, but occasionally dresses in newer attire.

Louis does not like to kill. He starves himself until his need for blood is too great to resist, then he finds a victim to feed from. But when he feeds, it's not solely the evildoers that he takes, but anyone who crosses his path, evil and innocent alike. This makes him the most vicious killer among vampires.
