Armand
Armand; the androgynous boy with auburn hair; the 400 year old vampire with the face of a Botechelli angel. Armand was a young boy living in 16th century Kiev when he was captured by Tartar raiders and sold as a slave. He was bought by a vampire named Marius who was a painter living in Venice. Marius was enthralled by Armand's beauty and lavished upon him every luxury he could want. He became his Master and gave him the name Amadeo, meaning beloved of God.
When Armand was captured by the Children of Darkness, he was forced into becoming a child of Satan and follow their ways. For centuries, he led a coven under the Paris cemetery Les Innocents until Lestat came and scattered it. Then he and a few others formed the Theatre des Vampires, until Louis burnt it to ashes.
In his mortal childhood, Armand was raised in a religious family. He had a gift. He could paint religious icons like no one else, and the priests wanted him to stay with them, and he was willing. But for the most part of his life, he convinced himself that there was no God or Devil, and forced himself to believe that there was no greater power. Yet in his heart, he must have believed otherwise because when Lestat brought back the Veil of Veronica, he believe didn't doubt that it was real and tried to end his immortal life.
Armand has always needed companionship from others. As a fledgling he had Marius, then his coven. Towards the 1800s, he was in charge of the Theater of Vampires, and when that was destroyed, he and Louis became companions. After the infamous interview, he haunted Daniel Malloy and used him to make contact with the 20th century. Afraid of death taking Daniel, Armand made him into a vampire. Most recently, he has acquainted himself with two mortals, Benji and Sybelle, who were made into vampires for him by Marius.
