"Hear O' Israel, HaShem is our G-d, HaShem alone"

Zechariah 9:9

The missionaries will say that Jesus must be the Messiah because Zechariah 9:9 prophicied that the Messiah comes riding on a donkey. They will further point out that Jesus road into Jerusalem on a donkey in Matt 21:1-9 and John 12:12-16.

The Reply is: First of all, many people rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. One does not have to be the Messiah to ride on a donkey into Jerusalem. Since there were no cars in those days, it was very common to ride on donkeys. The fact that Jesus rode on a donkey only proves that Jesus rode on a donkey. I would further point out a discrepancy in the New Testament texts quoted. In Matthew, Jesus is portrayed as riding on TWO donkeys; in John ONE. Which is correct? Again, since many people in that region used donkeys as a means of transportation, this is hardly conclusive evidince.
