Autumn In The Ohio River Valley

Autumn evokes the memories upon the arrival of crisp cool days
O'er the hills, dells, and country side, when tree tops were ablaze
Flaming hues of burgundy, saffron, red, and russet brown
Clinging to the trees before a gusty wind scattered them around
Tumbling and twirling in the breeze, danced these autumn shades
Disheveled upon the ground, beckoning one to pick up their spades
Wading through the oak and elm, as they shed their gown
Whistfully swirling through the air, till they collapse and pile in a mound
Laughter filled golden days, one of autumn's simple pleasures
As children frolicked in the leaves, enjoying October's treasures
Golden gourds on lawns and porch steps, a familiar fall scene
Carved funny faced jack-o-lanterns, waiting for Halloween
Those dappled days of apple pies, the sweetness of autumn's zeal
When savoring aromas on the breeze, tasted of apple peel
And Golden sunlight flickered specks, upon a lake side green
When God would take out his pallate and paint this autumn scene.
