The Fantasies Of Fall
~Dedicated to my husband John~
It's that time of year when
Autumn shrouds us in her golden shawl
And Mother Nature shares with us
her fantasies of fall
All the trees are dressed in gowns of
copper, gold, and red
While leaves lay strewn on the ground,
like a blanket for Mother Nature's bed
As a warm autumn breeze blows
entangling the curls in my hair
A hint of carmel apple can be found
lingering in the air
A time for taking long walks
as the squirrels scurry through the leaves
Gathering up the acorns and nuts
that have fallen from the trees
An Indian sun with her balmy rays
paints this autumn scene
Radiating a fire on every tree top
she touches with her beam
Autumn then parades us
with her fall fashion show
Turning the azure sky into a bronze glow
The warmth of this season can be felt
through all her flaming hues
And I can't imagine sharing this
with anyone else but you.
