Confined In This Room, My Prison, My Cell

~ I wrote this after breaking my ankle.
I had to spend 6 weeks in a cast and was confined in one room.~
~2002~
Confined in this room,
my prison, my cell doing my time
I can hear the church bell ring,
but can't see the chime
I lie here as the day turns to night,
and the night back into day
I can see the sun is shining,
but can't feel the ray
Upon my roof I can hear
a symphony of April showers
But I am unable to go out
and smell the flowers
Outside my window I can hear the wind,
whispering a prayer
I close my eyes and imagine
it blowing through my hair
Confined in this cage,
like a bird I long to fly
But all I do is dream,
as the days pass me by.
