A City Raped By Hate
Hate arrived in Over the Rhine
masking itself as a fight for justice
boiling temperatures and tempers that were festering
exploded into a rage of violence that raped a city
Shattered glass fell like tiny daggers into the heart of a neighborhood consumed by rage
angry black men in masks chanted,"No Justice,No Peace" as they pulled white people out of their cars
beating and bloodying them
all in a hypocritical fight against racist cops
looters raced down the sidewalks carrying tvs,jewelry,and clothes
using this chance to go on a shopping spree
as sirens screamed down city streets
rushing to fan the blazes that set a city on fire
and gunshots rung throughout the night
in this uproar of hatred
as news crews tarnished the image of a city that was once known as a nice place to live
that was now being plastered all over CNN for its chaotic out of control rioting
Black leaders and ministers came together in a demonstration for peace
that turned into a fury with their sharp tongue of hate
as they blasphemed a peaceful march in the name of Jesus
(they must have skipped the part in the Bible that depicted Jesus as a loving peacemaker)
as cans were hurled at officers of the law during this so called peace rally
All the while a weak mayor set back biting his nails
as beads of sweat formed on his head
concocting up a way to save political face
to appease all people for his upcoming re-election
as his city remained in total chaos for three days
But the rain brought peace to the city of Cincinnati
cooling the temperments of the war that lasted 3 days
in her streets
offering a chance to heal
from this so called battle against racism.
