HERE ARE SOME MORE OF MY THOUGHTS (not just on Spiritualism)
I MUST EMPHASISE THAT THESE ARE MY THOUGHTS. I DO NOT PUT THEM FORWARD AS BEING THE TRUTH. IT IS UP TO YOU TO DECIDE IF THEY FEEL RIGHT OR WRONG TO YOU AND THEN ACCEPT OR REJECT THEM.
Today (2nd December 1999) I was watching the world news and in particular the coverage of the protests taking place in Seattle USA, and the violence that has accompanied them. This situation was mirrored, on a smaller scale, in London England.
I cannot and will not agree with the violence that has happened, but I do support the protests against the growing greed factor in our lives.
Here in England, a couple of examples of the way capitalism is blighting the way we live, have recently been in the news. Unfortunately the media and the powers that be do not seem to be interested in the human side of the stories.
Firstly British Telecom were reported to be making profits of around �100 per second!!!
Secondly Nat West Bank, which is the subject of a fierce take-over battle, reported significant profits and on the back of that tried to take over another company. This brought them into the spotlight and so the became the prey to two other banks.
The sad thing is, that although these companies are very profitable, the common factor is they want to reduce their staff in order to make even bigger profits!!!
Surely there should be more to running a major company than just profit. I understand that without profit a company could not exist and therefore there would be no jobs, but to cut jobs when very profitable is in my eyes totally immoral.
This sort of behavior by big business, along with the sleaze and deceptions that our governments indulge in, must be stamped out.
BUT NOT with violence. Peaceful protests, petitions, campaigns to boycott goods and services are one way. It may take time, but violence is never the answer.
