| I'm sure there's been more than enough debates about the place over the history of time, but anyone who's been on there today / reads the recent threads in serious discussion will be aware they have made 2 new moderators (Bulldog and WYHC) and Purps has taken absolute control for running the board, with Ian as 2nd in command. I wanted to state this here, as without a shadow of a doubt I know the moment I post anything like this on Rios it will get deleted and I'll be jumped on like nobodies business. So I thought I'd let the members of both forums see what I wanted to say. I think they have made a terrible decision making WYHC a moderator, he's a nice enough guy and can be good fun, but I don't think bully-boy tactics are going to work to make the place better, in fact the complete opposite. The thing that has always seperated the Rios Forum to me from every other web forum is that it is a community, as the title suggest, and there have been long standing friendships forged from that place, good times and great memories for many involved in and around it When you know each other in RealLife(tm) and you coexist in a community such as Rios, things are going to spill over into the forums; it's just how things are and always have been. Stampeding in like a bull in a china shop will not fix that. First you ban someone who bitches about another member, then you ban someone who bitches about the friend of a member, where will it end? What it means is that people will end up afraid of saying what they think because the powers that be seem to have it set in their head that the majority of the users are troublemakers and there to make their life difficult. Add to that the perception that people are being made moderators despite personal attacks on members, and havin multiple accounts (both against forum rules throughout it's history) and what do you get? Disgruntled users and a forum only a select few (who are already friends of the so called "mod team") want to visit. If Rios wants to alienate the population more than they have already, then so be it. I've been an active member of the forum since 2001, and an inactive member long before that, and I've never seen the forum in such a state, with such an atmosphere between users, and even amongst the mod team themselves. Well I'm done with it, if the place has to be a dictatorship because they don't know how to deal with people in a decent manner, that's their choice. |
