 Arachnophilia

This is a tiny, but effective piece of software for generating/editing web pages. It is very stable; I have used it for several months, and it has been very well-behaved. Features that I find very useful are: automatic color selection from a palette; analysis of a site, to see if there are any unresolved references / unused resources; tag buttons; preview as you edit; preview in several browsers; well-organized menus. Arachnophilia is careware. Visit www.arachnoid.com.

Well, I find the name of this is funny... it reminds me of something else, as well as unconventional, since it starts with a numeral. Name aside, this is the most convenient web-authoring software I've used. It provides easy access to files, colors and scripts, and it has a great reference section. Syntax-coloring is great, and multiple-browser preview is available. The internal browser has an potion to display a pixel ruler :) . But I did run into some instability (some memory error) so I do have to save regularly. Visit www.evrsoft.com.

 EasyZIP

It's free, full-featured and it works well. Visit their homepage.

Winamp

Winamp is now free! For those who do have a conscience, be bothered no more and download version 2.5e from winamp.com.

Unix Ports to Win32

For those who need the dark side for games, but miss the power of unix. Check out these ports.

StarOffice 5.1

This is really big, both the download and the program. I haven't used it extensively, but so far, my impression of it is that it is widely featured and very customizable. Visit them at www.sun.com/staroffice

Gotta thank this site for pointing me to some of the stuff. If you find something you like on their page, link to them. Visit them at www.thefreesite.com
