Elvis is currently at a shop getting an engine rebuild!! Freshening up the 302 4V. Interior attention is next. Floors have been "rust-proofed" and folddown rear seat will be installed, along with new carpeting and black deluxe seats in the rear. The only things missing are a piece of trim at the rear, near back window, original front seats there are a pair of unmentionable brand front seats in there(despite their heritage, they are comfortable, nice, and are better on my back). Thinking about putting a bench in there. Also, the Power steering, and AC was removed from engine bay by one of the previous owners. But all AC stuff are in the cabin area as far as controls, outlets. the lower panels in back seat area have cracks, but will be fixed during interior spruce up. What has been done so far, what it has and what needs attention: Rebuilt 4spd tranny, re-done front end suspension, (2 years and less than 3000 miles ago.) Original Sun-x tinted glass, a cracked dash pad, new headliner, Chrome Styled GT wheels (Replacing with chrome "daisy style" AR rims), Was painted 2 years ago (over layers of old paint, since old neighbors were complaining about the JUNK car in our driveway, and we weren't planning on getting the final paint yet. SO, to keep neighborhood happy and avoid bad feelings we put a quickie paint job on it". Let's see, what else? Car is straight, dent free except for a couple of parking lot dings. And there is a spot which still has a "dimple".Previous owner fixed a dented panel by re-welding a piece of metal after cutting the area, and left a "gap" we left it there so we could remember where it was when it came down to body and paint. It is the size of a fingertip, near the drivers, upper "vent" behind the window. But I love the car, and it is waiting for an engine rebuild and re-install to be done, new carpets, paint dash and doors, new dashboard, and floor console. WHEW** In other words...An ongoign project daily driver, and I LOVE IT! FOR MORE PICTURES, click on link to YAHOO! PHOTOS and look under Elvis-Our 68 Fastback |
