Once she�s sleeping, Jake whispers to Dani to write a letter to Belle to have them stop at the next gas station for gas and to change drivers. So far today, the friends have driven about 900 miles.
They pull off into the gas station and Heath fills up both vehicles. Jake wakes Angel and tells her to get into the very back of the van. She climbs our of the front seat and kisses him. Just as she�s about to climb into the van, Belle walks up.
�That van better not be shaking and those windows better not be steaming because of you two,� Belle says.
�Belle, we�re going in the back so she can sleep. She was up really late packing and making sure things were ready for this trip. And she was up early this morning to get ready. And now it�s nine o�clock. We�ll see you in the morning. Good night,� Jake says and helps Angel into the van. Jake then climbs in behind her.
By the time they start moving again, Jake and Angel are curled up sleeping. Evette grabs her camera and quickly takes a picture of the sleeping couple.
�The sleeping Angel in love,� Evette says quietly. �The only other guy she ever loved was James and he betrayed her. I was surprised that she told us she loved Jake.�
�Why? From what I hear, she�s wanted Jake for a long time. Jake just needed to discover what it meant to be loved by Angel and how much it would change his life,� Heath stated.
�If you are going to talk about someone, do it when they�re not around or sleeping please,� Jake says, scarring everyone.
�Sorry, buddy.�
�I�m going to tell you guys what happened. After Angel dumped James, she told me she liked me. Truth was that I already knew that.
She was shy but then asked me out. I told her I wanted to get to know her better first. So we were just friends. She basically left me alone after that. She only said hello in the halls and talked to me on the bus. After a little while, I discovered that I liked her. Well, not just liked her. I was falling in love with her. That was when I asked her out. She said yes and kissed my cheek. I was a goner. And this is where we are now. She�s� asleep in my arms. My precious Angel.� Jake ends the story by falling asleep.
�How romantic! But is that how it really happened? I mean, he was sleeping. Wait, she has the story online.� Dani scans the Internet. �Here it is. �I moved to Grand Valley and met an interesting guy. His name is Jake, the love of my life. After I broke up with my ex, James, I had told Jake that I like him. But he already knew that. He said it was in my eyes. Well, I was quite shy and asked him out through e-mail. He told me to do it in person so I did. To my surprise, he said later because he wanted to get to know me. So we were friends and I was fine with that. Well, I basically left him alone. I said hello to him in the halls and we talked occasionally on the bus. But a couple of weeks later, he asked me out. He told me he liked me and I smiled. Then he confessed that he was/ is falling in love with me. I, of course, said yes and kissed him on the cheek.�
�Wow. That is really romantic. I wish something like that would happen for me. But no, I just fell in love with Evette,� Seth confesses. �Oops.�
�You love me?� Evette questions. Seth nods sheepishly and then kisses her for the first time. Evette had fallen in love with Seth awhile back and had wanted to kiss him. Now it finally happened, her first kiss.
�I guess we�re the only ones not confessing our love tonight,� Heath comments. He kisses Dani�s cheek and pulls her close. �Night, Honey.� By now it�s eleven o�clock and the two vehicles are stopped in a Wal-Mart parking lot to sleep.
Dani and Heath met about four months ago and hooked up right away. But Heath�s an old fashioned guy. He�s had about a dozen girlfriends but hadn�t kissed any of them on the lips. Most of his relationships lasted for about six months and then the girls wanted more than he was offering and they dumped him. He thinks that people should wait to sleep together until they are married. He had only kissed two of his girlfriends on the cheek.
Heath had wanted to kiss Dani but thought that she would push him away if he was too forward. And although Dani�s not like his ex-girlfriends, he�s afraid Dani wants to be kissed. She feels that it�s her time. Dani fell in love with Heath on their first date.
Heath was the perfect gentleman. He held her door open and was content with how things went. At the end of the night, he walked her to the door and bid her goodnight. Then he gave her a hug and kissed her on the cheek and walked back to his car. Once there, he waited until she was inside before going to pick Angel up to take her back to Grand Valley.
