SO I BOUGHT MY BROTHER A BEST FRIEND
PART 6
"So how old are you?" Asked Mr. Davis.
"He's three months older than me." Said Alyson, stepping onto the porch.
"Is that right?" Said Mr. Davis.
"Come on, everyone, into the mini van." Said Mrs. Davis. Alyson sat next to Becca in the middle row, while the boys got the back. Mr. Davis started up the car and they drove off.
The kids were being loud, unaware of the adults' conversation.
"He's our daughter's age." Said Mr. Davis.
"Well, that's all right. He's a good friend of Kevin's."
"Well, what if, um, well...Meridith, Alyson's too young to have a boyfriend!"
"Allen, she turns sixteen in July. I think she's old enough." Said Mrs. Davis.
"She's is not either. I'm going to keep a close eye on those two."
"Allen, don't worry. Everything worked out well during the sleepover."
"What sleepover? When? Why was he there?"
"Alyson had a sleepover and the Vespuccis came over. They ended up staying the night because we all lost track of time."
"When was this?"
"That weekend that you never came home for. You said you were busy with a client." Said Mrs. Davis with an edge to her voice.
"Oh." Said Mr. Davis. He couldn't tell his wife the real reason he was gone; it would shatter their marriage.
"All of you, take a ten." Said Mrs. Davis. She passed out the money.
"Mrs. Davis," Began Caden.
"I won't hear of it." Said Mrs. Davis. She handed a ten to Becca.
"Whoa! Thank you very much." Said Becca.
"Your welcome." Said Mrs. Davis, "Now then, Alyson, you've got my cell?"
"Yeah." Said Alyson, showing the phone to her mother before putting it in her purse.
"The four of you stay together, and call us if you need anything." Said Mrs. Davis.
"We will." Said Kevin.
"Have fun, kids." Said Mrs. Davis as the kids ran off.
"What should we ride first?" Asked Caden.
"That one!" Exclaimed Kevin, pointing at The Samurai.
"That one's too scary." Whimpered Becca, clutching Alyson's hand tighter.
"How about that one?" Asked Caden, pointing to a HUGE ferris wheel.
"Okay." Said Becca. As they got on the ride, the girls realized just how far they were up. Both of them sat shaking, clutching to the pole with white knuckles.
"Wimps." Laughed Kevin. Then he started spinning the wheel attatched to the pole, making them spin around.
"Stop it!" Both of the girls screamed. Caden joined Kevin in spinning the wheel. They went faster as the ferris wheel went higher. They lurched violently back and forth.
"Please, stop it!" Begged Becca, tears spilling down her face.
"Knock it off, Kevin." Said Caden. Kevin stopped, confused by why his friend stopped. Caden scooted over to his little sister and gave her a hug. She cried into his cotton jacket.
"I'm sorry." Said Caden. The ride eventually stopped and they got off. Caden carried his little sister over to the giftshop.
"Why don't you go pick out a stuffed animal?" Asked Caden.
"Okay." Said Becca. She walked around the store and imediantly fell in love with a soft, huge, pink elephant with a red bow tied around its neck.
"Do you want that one." Asked Caden.
"It costs lots." Said Becca, showing Caden the price tag.
"That's okay." Said Caden, "And what about you, Aly?"
"Huh?" Asked Alyson. It took a moment for Alyson to realize that he called her Aly. Nobody had ever called her that.
"Well, I'm buying stuffed animals for all the traumatized people." Grinned Caden.
"Okay." Said Alyson, her cheeks reddening. She picked out an electric green frog.
"Gosh, make me feel bad. I'm buying you all ice cream." Said Kevin.
"I like chocolate." Said Caden.
"It's only for the traumatized people." Said Kevin. Quickly, Caden fell to the floor, wiggling around.
"I'm so traumatized!"
"No, you're just mental." Said Kevin. Caden stood up after an elderly couple gave them death stares. After paying, they quietly left.
"I've got an idea. Let's go talk to ourselves and see if we can get people to stare." Said Alyson.
"Yeah!" Said Becca.
"It sounds dumb." Said Caden.
"Oh yeah? Watch me." Said Alyson. She sat on a bench six feet away with them and began.
"Today is the end of the world, and nobody knows but me." Said Alyson. She stared into space and rocked back and forth.
"That's because I am trusted, so very trusted. And I'm not alone, Mr. Bell is here too. How are you doing, Mr. Bell? I agree, and the end of the world is coming." Said Alyson, talking to the frog in her lap. People stopped and stared uncomfortably, others hurried away with their children asked questions they'd rather not answer. Suddenly, Alyson burst out laughing, unable to finish her wacky sentances.
"The clouds, hahah, are elephants dancing in the sky, hahahaha, and I, hahah, am Einstein, hahaha, I know all there is, hahahaha! E equals M C purple, hahahaha!" Alyson giggled. Suddenly unable to continue, she stood up and walked back to her group.
"Alyson, you are very crazy." Said Becca.
"Thank you." Said Alyson, taking a quick bow.
"I can do better." Said Caden.
"Let's see you." Said Alyson. Caden whispered to Kevin and he nodded. He walked into the center of the crowd and sat down, still licking his ice cream cone. A lady with a stroller nearly ran him over.
"I'm sorry, I didn't see you." Said the lady, laughing nervously.
"It is alright." Said Caden. He stood up and stared intently at the baby in the carriage.
"Shame. You're son will study hard his entire life, get into the best medical school, and then he will drop out, pierce his nose, dye his hair green, and have three children out of wedlock, and you'll have to raise your grandkids. What a pity." Said Caden, shaking his head.
"Excuse me?"
"I know everything, including that your husband's name is Moe."
"My husband's name is Henry." Said the lady.
"Your first husband's name is Henry, but your forth and final is Moe Proctor."
"Nice to meet you." Said the woman, hurrying away.
"Don't worry though! You're daughter will be an incredible Lawyer and a lesbian!" Shouted Caden.
"Caden, that couple over there looks pissed." Said Alyson quietly as she walked over. Caden looked over to the gay couple not far off.
"There's nothing wrong with lesbians! Love your daughter for who she is!" Shouted Caden before grabbing Alyson's hand and running off. They stopped by a ride, laughing hysterically.
"That was so funny! I can't believe it!" Laughed Alyson. She set her frog on the wall.
"I wouldn't have done it if you didn't go first." Said Caden.
"Really? I guess I'm just a role model." Said Alyson. She stared into Caden's dark brown eyes, flecked with a lighter brown. Silence. The crowd was gone. It was just the two of them. Caden gently placed a kiss on Alyson's lips. She returned the kiss. They stayed there, who knows how long, kissing.
"Well, dear, that ride was fun. Perhaps we should call the kids and get lunch? Maybe we'll," Mr. Davis stopped talking. His daughter was making out with that boy! Mrs. Davis caught her husband by his sleeve.
"Don't do anything rash." She said.
"Meridith, that boy has his filthy hands all over Alyson!"
"Calm down, dear. Caden is a sweet boy, and if the two of them decide to start dating, then I'm fine with it." Said Mrs. Davis, "Let's go get lunch."
Mr. Davis walked away with his wife, pulled out his cell phone, and called his wife's phone.
"Nobody's answering." Said Mr. Davis.
"What? No, because Alyson has my phone and she'd never turn it off."
"Well, apparently she did." Said Mr. Davis.
Kevin grabbed Becca's hand.
"We better go find those two." He said.
"Yeah, those silly two." Said Becca. They turned the corner and saw them.
"Yuck!" Squealed Becca. The two broke apart. Immediantly, their cheeks colored. Kevin coldly glared. What right did his friend have to kiss his sister? He spun around and walked off, angry. Maybe Caden only became his friend to get closer to Alyson.
"Kevin!" Alyson called after him, "We have to go after him."
"But I'm hungry, what about that ice cream?" Whined Becca.
"Becca, do you want to get in trouble with Mrs. Davis because Kevin ran off?" Asked Caden. Becca shook her head.
