INTERACT CLUB'S HISTORY
The Interact Club of SM King Edward VII is the fourth Interact Club in Taiping sponsored by the Rotary Club. The other three being the Interact Clubs are SM St. George, SM Hua Lian and SM Tun Azlan Shah. Our Interact Club had its beginning when P.P Rtn M. Mahendran became a teacher in SM King Edward VII in 1988. He started the ball rolling by talking to various groups of students about the Rotary Club of Taiping.

In March 1990, the Charter Night was organized by P.P Rtn Mokhner from Ipoh who was the District Youth Advisor as the chief guest organized and he handed the Charter to the then principle of SM King Edward VII, En Abdul Muin. It was a night to remember with guests and well wishes from far and near.

The club was unoffically formed in June 1989 with the support and guidance from the Rotary Club of Taiping. A Pro-Team Committee headed by Int. Chan Kok Meng was elected to run the club, before the approval for the club from the Main Branch in United States.

The Interactors managed to raise funds for the club by distributing Walkathon Cards. The Rotary Club of Taiping sponsored the Walkathon. The club received 20% of the profit. Furthermore, the club put up a number of exhibits on the Co-Curriculum Day in order to introduce to the students about the club and to attract more members.

On the 29th of January, the first general meeting was held to elect the new Office Bearers for the period of 1989 to 1990. The meeting was conducted by Rotarian members in Taiping, who later briefed the members about the goals of the Interact Club, congratulated the newly elected committee and hoped that they would serve the council well. Besides this, a Charter Night was organized by the Interactors to officially install the Board of Directors. The Interactors were able to gather more information about "Interacting" by attending the SM St. George's Information Day, SM Hua Lian's Installation Night and other functions. During the mid-year session,  a small group of interactors from Chiang Mai, Thailand visited our school.

From then on, the club began to grow and mature. Today, the Interact Club of SM King Edward VII is recognized as one of the most active clubs in the school.
