Sans serif fonts is known as a Modern font and are generally used to attract a readers attention. However they must be avoided for long sections of text. Usually used for heading, titles, signs and names. |

Serif fonts is the Traditional font used for long passages of text, but if used as a heading then if often reflects a highly professional image for the document. E.g. The Times newspaper, Ferrari car manufacturer. |

Script font is a handwritting style font generally used for formal occasions such as weddings invitations and engagement parties. |

Gothic or Olde English font is generally used when reflecting a Medieval or ancient image. E.g The Daily Telegraph, Classical Music. |

Fancy fonts are generally used for comical or humourous effect that the traditionalist would never be seen to use. |

Never use more that two typefaces in any one document and each typeface should come from different font families (e.g Sans serif and serif families). The choice of font must have a similar impact to the picture or illustration within the document.
Remember that the typeface choosen will often be identified with a certain company or product.
Different Typefaces have different uses. Complete the table by writing down the document or part of the document where each typeface family appears.
