| Which suits to wear for each Stroke | |||||||||||||||
| One of the hardest parts in choosing a swim suit to wear to a meet is which suit cut a person should wear. Below are some thoughts on which suit is best for each event. *For Freestlye: If you are swimming a shorter sprint event, many people are now wearing the fastskins or aquapels that go down to their ankles. However some were the knee length suit, because they feel that they can better feel their kick with that length suit than with the full leg. For those of you who swim distance events many of you may choose to wear the full leg suit as well as the knee length suit for similar reasons as the sprinters. However some also wear the brief or record breaker cut simply because they feel that they get overheated in the suits that cover more of the body. *For Backstroke: Those who swim backstroke typically wear the full leg or the knee length suit. This is because backstroke takes a lot from the swimmers leg, so if the length of the leg is longer it is going to help keep the legs feeling better for a longer period of time. *For Breaststroke: This differs for guys and girls. Many girls prefer to wear the record breaker cut simply because it is a lot more comfortable to wear than the suits that cover more of the leg. Guys on the other hand are starting to now wear suits that cover more of their leg. Initially they wore the breif, but then they started to wear the jammer (knee length) cut, but as of late many are starting to wear the full leg suit with good results. *For Butterfly: Again similar to backstroke and freestyle many wear either the full leg or the knee length cut. It just depends on which suit you are able to best feel your legs. *Just because you prefer a certain cut for one stroke doesn't mean that you will like that cut for each of the other strokes. Since these suits are so expensive it is recommended that you buy the cut that you prefer for your best stroke or the cut that you feel will be helpful in the majority of your events. ***** Perhaps the most important tip is, to make sure you get a suit that you are comfortable in. Just because you think that you should get a certain style doesn't mean that you should. So many people regret getting the cut that they thought they sholuld get instead of what they were comfortable in. If you are not comfortable in your suit than you are not going to do as well, and these suits are pretty expensive to make mistakes about.***** To view pictures of swimmer's in there competitive suits click here |
