The Life of a Child

When I was a child
Life was nothing but fun
Now that Im grown
I only want to run.
Life is not what I dreamt
Its more of a nightmare
Digging through life
Just for one who will care.
Once a carefree smile
Is forever gone.
What a shame,
If only it were on pawn.
My silly little laugh
Will never return
It was sent away
Without future concern.
Alone in torment
Is how I feel
And to think I thought
What my eyes saw was real?
Reality, thats funny,
How niave children are.
Thinking their dreams
Will take them far.
I suppose with love
We can have what we wish.
So where is mine?
I need something to cherish.
