My Judy Garland Page

Hey you guys. I just want to share with you my love of old movies. If your like me, you'll definitely love them to!!!

Well let's start with the absolute best actress of all time--Judy Garland. She will forever be incomparable. She sang. She danced. She acted superbly. She did it all. Such dramatic roles as "The Clock" offered no problems what so ever for her talent. Though she suffered through bouts of depression and burned-out many times after incredibly hectic scheduling, she would get right back on the proverbial horse and take on a new role. MGM took advantage of her love for the camera (and the camera's love for her). Movie after movie starring Judy came out and instantaneously became blockbusters. In 1939, MGM released one movie starring Judy that some say is the movie that made her a star--The Wizard of Oz. Though any true Judy Garland fan will tell you she would have made stardom no matter what, none can refute the impact this movie had on her career as well as the movie industry. She won an academy award for best juvenile actress and was forever asked to sing "Over the Rainbow" by her millions of fans. Of course, her career did not end (or begin) there. Her rendition of "You Made Me Love You" in Broadway Melody of 1938 was a huge success before the world met Dorothy and all her friends. Audiences cried when her motherly character died giving birth to her daughter (also played by Judy) in Little Nellie Kellie as well as when her character suffers in the remake of A Star is Born. On and on her success goes (it's really too much for my poor fingers can take right now, but trust me there will be additions to this page in the near future). Some how she found the time to be a mother and wife (many times over) and though maybe not a paragon to either state, none could hold her occasional human faults against her.

I will forever remember the story my mother told me of the first time I saw Judy on TV. My parents had a Valentines banquet to attend at church that had been post-poned due to snow. It was re-scheduled the day of my birthday--February 15. I don't remember which one, but it had to have been before I turned five. They were afraid I would be upset if the left, but I was just fine. You see The Wizard of Oz came on and I was happy as a clam (I'm still convinced it came on just for me). From that day on, I have been a Judy fanatic. I'm a member of a bunch of Judy clubs on the net, and have so much Judy stuff at home that my family thinks I'm crazy (I'm not of course, but they are since they don't understand). She also happened to be a fellow lefty; just one more plus in my eyes. And I am not alone in my love of Judy Garland. To this day, she is loved by millions, and that will not change any time in the near future (if ever). We Love You, Judy!!!!!
