| Mandrake is the common name for members of the plant genus Mandragora belonging to the nightshade family. Their roots, because of their curious bifurcations cause them to have a semblance to the human figure. |
| The root of the Mandrake plant is a powerful restorative. It is an important part in a lot of antidotes. The Mandrake Restorative Draught returns people who have been transfigured or cursed to their original state. |
| Always make sure your ears are protected when handling Mandrakes. Wear a pair of tight fitting ear muffs or ear plugs, because the cry of a Mandrake is fatal in humans. Even as a baby, the Mandrake's cry can knock a person out for a long period of time. |
