| Asphodel Asphodelus ramosus |
| Asphodel grows to be about 3 ft high, with large, white terminal flowers and long numerous leaves. |
| Powdered root of Asphodel is used in the Draught of the Living Death. This plant is traditionally associated with the afterlife and the underworld. Legend tells us that this plant fills the plains of Hades, in the mythological Greek underworld. It was believed to be the favorite food of the dead, so ancient greeks would often plant it near graves. |

| Asphodel is best harvested at the end of the first year at midnight on a full moon. It then needs to be dried for 3 weeks at which time it can be ground into a fine powder to be used in potions or herbal remedies. |
