Red, Green and Blue

After encountering a mysterious Pokemon called Mew, and seeing it easily defeat both his rival and some mysterious agents from Team Rocket, headstrong Red (Green in original) is engaged by Professor Oak to help complete the Pokemon encyclopdia he has invented. Red sets out with a reluctant bulbasaur and Pikachu in tow, as well as his own well-loved Poliwhirl in search of rare pokemon and adventure. Along the way he meets the young gym leader Misty, backwards scientist Bill and a host of others. But something sinister is going on in the background as Pokemon go missing and return strangely altered.

After an encounter with a flirty thief named Green (Blue in original), Red learns of the Rocket Gang's genetic experiments. Their victims include Misty's Gyrados and Red's own Eevee, and the goal seems to be the creation of some sort of Pokemon monster. It becomes clear that even the Gym Leaders have divided loyalties, and Red will have to team up with Green and Blue in order to save the beseiged cities of Kanto from the clutches of Team Rocket.

In the aftermath of their stand against Team Rocket, Red, Green and Blue head out to the Pokemon League tournament Where they'll take on rival trainers, and each other. Green's mysterious past is revealed by an unexpected challenger, and Red proves his mettle as a trainer.

After the tournament, Red heads home to Pallet, but along the way meets trouble in the Viridian Forest. After he rescues a young girl from a pokemon attack and teaches her the baics of becoming a trainer, he sets out after a so-called "monster" rumoured to dwell in Cerulean cave. Along the way he teams up with reformed Rocekt scientist and former Gym leader Blaine to tame the monster of Cerulean...a silent psychic-type called Mewtwo.

Yellow Caballero

Two years after the end of his Pokemon journey, Red is a trainer in good standing, accepting challenges across the region. Then, one day, Pikachu comes stumbling back to Oak's lab, wounded and alone. No-one knows what has happened to Red or any of his pokemon. Then, a mysterious child called Yellow turns up at the lab, takes Pikachu and heads out with the mission of finding Red if he wants to be found, and rescuing him if he needs rescuing.

Along the way, Yellow collects pokemon friends and meets up with people who have known Red over the years, and who notice the young trainer's uncanny ability to speak to pokemon, and to heal them with his touch. Yellow follows a trail of clues, and the advice of trainers like Blue and Green to discover what has happened to Red. Along the way, Yellow also uncovers a twisted plan that has been set into motion by a group calling themselves the Elite Four.

While Gym Leaders Misty and Erika try to defend their cities from attack, Green and Sabrina face off against Agatha as reluctant allies. Yellow finds himself trapped, along with Blaine, on Cerise Island, pitted against Lance the Dragon Trainer, who believe humans and pokemon should not coexist. Yellow's secret identity is revealed to Blaine -- Yellow is, in fact, red's young protegée, the girl from Viridian Forest, and has strange psychic abilities that she is only just learning to harness. While Mewtwo and Blaine buy her time, Yellow channels many other trainers to defeat Lance and to reunite everyone with Red.

Viz ceased publication of Pokemon Adventures at volume seven, however, Chuang Yi continues to release volumes in English. There have been five additional story arcs since the end of Yellow Caballero. We hope to have more information on them in the future!
