| Race report:McMinville | ||||
| I got to the track early.Hopeing for as much practice time as possible.Ralph, Shawn, Chris and Julio were already there.However, the skys were gloomy, and people were talking about aborting and not racing at all.I went out for a practice, and had a very good time.I realy think this track suits my riding style well.A while after that Seth showed up,and was even trying to convince People to ride 80s, despite the showers.After another practice came the riders meeting.After haveing some troubles getting people to the designated riders meeting area, pops made a comment that if we came to the riders meeting it would stop raining.Oddly, just after this, it stoped raining.Ralph decided to bail, and left before the heat.Shawn waited to the last minute, unloaded the bike that he had already loaded up, and decided to race.Seth and Julio also raced.I got a decent start, and then got shut down in turn 1.I ended up haveing an awsome battle with Chris the whole way through,and I finished 3rd overall, second in my class.This was great becuase I got my first front row start ever for the main.Off the line I got a picture perfect start, and hopped into the lead.There I stayed untill just after the half way point.I lead half the race!Finnaly, Julio got around me, and I dueled with him for the rest of the time.He began to pull away a little bit, but as it happens my best lap was made trying to catch up with him on the 8th or so lap.I finished behing Julio, second overall, first in class.I didnt even realixe I had won my class untill I went into the pits.I stopped in the hot pit and my dad and Lisa congradulated me on my win.Only then did it dawn on me I had just erned 300 points, a main win, talk about adrinalin! -Sam |
