Water filters were invented to provide humans with the ability to drink great tasting and clean water that does not pose any health threats. They also waste very little water during the purification process. Water filtration is the only water purification method capable of removing chlorine, chlorine byproducts and VOC's from drinking water. Chlorine and VOCs (volatile organic chemicals) are the most dangerous contaminants of public drinking water. Water filters also remove giardia and cryptosporidium which are resistant to chlorine treatments. These bacteria have caused epidemics and sever gastrointestinal diseases and were contracted through drinking water. Water filters were created with the ability to remove harmful particles from your water. This includes the ones that you cannot see with the naked eye. Carbon in the filter traps these particles and molecules that cause odors and bad taste to taint your water. Water filters are often much more cost effective than purchasing bottled water. They are made with features that provide months of worry free and great tasting water. Your filters should offer: High capacity Durability Ease of changing filters Be sure to investigate the background of any water filters you are considering using. They should have regular testing and certification processes that conform to strict public health standards for water purification. Water filtration is now the most effective way to remove water contaminants in existence. The Process The process behind water filtration allows water to flow while preventing contaminants from moving past the filter. This is done through physical obstruction and chemical absorption. The filter material varies, but carbon or a combination of carbon and other elements is the most effective. The absorption process causes contaminants to break away from water molecules. Instead, they chemically adhere to the carbon in the filter. Typically, water goes through several filtering stages before it is released as pure drinking water. The more times it passes through the filtration process, the more purity you can count on in your drinking glass. Because water filters are capable of using chemical absorption, they are able to separate chemicals. This allows them to release healthy trace chemicals into the water. Other Filters As we have mentioned, water filters containing carbon are the most efficient. But, there are many filters on the market. Be sure you know the differences before choosing your filter. Granular filters These filters do not employ the chemical absorption process. Rapid water filters These filters do not give the water enough time to adequately contact the filter media that blocks the contaminants. As mentioned, carbon filters are the most effective. Solid block carbon filters are the top of the line. They are the best and most effective water filters available. In todays world, it is becoming more and more difficult to find tap water that is safe and tastes the way it should. Contaminated water affects its taste, your cooking, your foods flavor and possibly your quality of life. It is not something you can safely compromise. There are as many different types of water filters available in the world today as there are contaminants that they are made to filter. Every home and business that provides drinking water to families or the general public should invest in some form of filtering system. It is important to your health and the health of your loved ones that you do your homework. Research all of the water filter systems you can find, locally and online. Read about what they can do for you and which ones do it the best. The water filters that can remove a large percentage of all contaminants from your water supply can help to improve and maintain your familys good health. These are the filters you should choose for your drinking water. |
