Dental Bridges
In New York City, New York

If you practice good oral hygiene but are missing some teeth due to any number of reasons, you may be a good candidate for a dental bridge. Dr. Michael Iott and Associates of New York City, New York can provide you with the most innovative techniques available for your bridge work.

Leaving empty spaces in the mouth causes surrounding teeth to shift out of their proper positions. The spaces left by missing teeth can also cause your remaining teeth and gums to be more susceptible to gum disease and tooth decay.
Bridges can help to:
Reduce the risk of gum disease
 Correct certain bite problems
 Improve your speech

If you continue to maintain good oral hygiene, your new bridgework can last for many years.

Fixed Bridge
A fixed dental bridge is comprised of an artificial tooth which is fused between two crowns to fill an area that is missing a tooth. The crowns are attached to healthy teeth on either side of the opening. This is called a fixed bridge and cannot be removed. This is the typical procedure used to replace one or more missing teeth.
Cantilever Bridge
A cantilever bridge may be used in an area of your mouth where the teeth are under less stress. A cantilever bridge is used when there are teeth on only one side of the open space.
Resin Bonded Bridge
A resin bonded bridge is usually used for your front teeth. It is less expensive and works well when the surrounding teeth are healthy and do not have any fillings. The artificial tooth is fused to metal bands which are bonded to the supporting teeth with a hidden resin. This type of bridge saves excessive preparation of the surrounding teeth.
Cost
The cost of a bridge is determined by a few different factors:
 How many are needed
 What type is needed
 What area you live in

The typical range is anywhere from $500-900 per tooth. Most dental insurances will pay for approximately half of the cost of your bridge. This cost is per tooth and does not include costs for the crowns on either side of the bridge that are used to anchor it in place.
