Liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure for removing fatty deposits from under the skin. The plastic surgeon uses a thin, hollow tube called a cannula which is attached to a vacuum device to remove the fatty substance. The Techniques
There are several techniques used in liposuction surgery. At Ariana, we prefer the Power-assisted and Ultrasound-assisted liposuction techniques. What happens during each of these techniques?
Power-Assisted Liposuction �
The plastic surgeon injects a large volume of a solution made of saline, lidocaine and epinephrine into the target fatty areas. This is the same local anesthetic used in Tumescent Liposuction. This method reduces the patient's discomfort and minimizes post-procedure bruising.
Power-Assisted liposuction employs a cannula (thin, hollow tube) with a tip that vibrates at a high speed. The vibration of the tube loosens select fat cells without causing unnecessary trauma to surrounding tissues.

Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction �
Through Ultrasound-assisted liposuction, ultrasonic waves are delivered through the cannula and into the fatty tissues. The ultrasonic waves specifically target fat cells and liquefy them. This makes the removal procees easier.
This method reduces the loss of blood and extra tissue due to its focus on fat cells. It also reduces the amount of damage to surrounding areas. With this technique, it is easier to target some of the more difficult and fibrous areas of the body. These areas include:
� Male breasts
� Upper abdomen
� Fatty deposits on the back
The precision involved in ultrasound-assisted liposuction allows the surgeon to achieve even and contoured results. It also reduces the amount of post-operative pain for the patient.
The Risks
As with any surgical procedure, there are some risks involved. During your consultation, your plastic surgeon will discuss potential risks involved in your elected surgery.
