Types of Brain Injuries
� Penetrating head injury � Damage to the skull resulting in a crack or break of the skull itself. This is usually caused by a severe blow to the head.
� Closed head injuries � These are very difficult to diagnose. The skull has no obvious damage, but the brain has been injured. This can be caused by a blow to the head or by severe shaking, resulting in whiplash. This can also occur in babies that have been injured from being shaken too harshly. This is known as "shaken baby syndrome".
Symptoms of Brain Injury
