| Born in Russia in 1972, Ivan Petrov was part of the wrestling business from day one. His father, Nicholas was a proffesional wrestler and later was the man to train Ivan Petrov. Ivan and his twin brother Igor, along with his parents the Russian Nicholas and the Irishwoman Ann Hanson came to live in Willmington, Delaware in the mid-seventies. When there Ivan and Igor became childhood friends with a tall young man named Jake Hammerstein. The boys became inseperable and when Nicholas started training Ivan and Igor, Jake was not far behind in entering the ring. That was the day not only a wrestling shcool was formed but a long lived partnership which became known as "The Odd Men Out". They trio spent 3 years in Delaware as students and when Nicholas and Igor opend the Delaware Wrestling Aliance wrestling promotion. Ivan and Jake became regulars on the tours. At a show in Sweetwater, Texas in 1992. Ivan met with a man who would take him under his wing and be for many years the manager of the "Odd Men Out" and the agent for Ivan when he went solo in 2001. Jimmy was a charasmatic manager and a clever business man. With his infulence on the microphone and the in ring work of the Petrovs and Big Baby Jake (Hammerstein) the "Odd Men Out" had many classic matches on the indy scene in the 1990's. Mainly commited to DWA, but also working dates in both the US and Japan the Oddies (Odd Men Out) entertained the highs and lows of the life of both wrestlers and people. One of the low points, and the turning point's of Ivan's life came in 1996 when he, Igor and two of there friends from Willmington where involved in a car accident. Ivan was drunk at the wheel when he lost control of the car on a wet November night and skidded off the road hitting tree. Sadly, one of his friends (the younger sister of the other friend) died. This girl also happend to be engaged to marry Igor. Her death stunned him and damaged the brothers relationship for almost four years. Ivan turned away from wrestling for a year. Jake worked at Nicholas' Training Facility in Delaware, and when Ivan came back from living in Ireland with his mothers family he had given up alcohol; though he is still hanted by the tragic accident. Ivan and Jake teamed up without Igor as "The Outkasts" for a few years after that and when Ivan Petrov entered KCW as "Krazy Ivan" , Jake was soon to follow and they won the KCW Tag Team titles. However backstage problems with Jake and later Jimmy Chisel when he arrived, caused Jakes departure from KCW. Ivan sunk into a dipressed phase, even suffering from a bout with schitzophrenia. He lost his joh in KCW and when he eventually came back he was changed man. Ivan won the KCW TV title from Nine, this was his second KCW belt (He had won the HardKore title from HaZz thanks to KiD) . But soon he fell by the wayside due to his mental well being and when he returned again he was back under his real name Ivan Petrov and from there his carreer took off. He became outspoken in his promos, drawing a hard line and never backing down from anyone weather they be legends, world champions or just some hard-headed rookie. Ivan had a long and sucessful time in KCW. His greatest moment was a defeat at the KCW Scars And Stripes event. He wrestled KiD, not for gold. But for pride, KiD had also lost his job at the same time as Ivan; but unlike Ivan had been welcomed back with open arms even though he had betrayed KCW and joined with the invading HWF. KCW finnally closed its doors in 2003. Ivan went back to Delaware and helped his father to train young wrestlers. But the call of the ring was too lound for him not to hear, and to strong for him not to answer. After a few months Ivan re-surfaced in FIW(Full Intensity Wrestling), he was unbeaten in his itme there but left to join some of his friends from KCW in the short lived Shadow Hardcore Wrestling. One match was all he had in SHW, he won the SHW Hardcore championship. When former KCW president called him and asked him to join in his new project HWF(HardCore Wrestling Federation) Ivan didn't refuse. He was the first name on the roster and the last to leave the day it closed it's doors for as "The Powerplant" in January 2004. The most recent news on Ivan's life is that he has signed with Alexandra (a former KCW wrestler, who Ivan himself broght to KCW from WEF) and will be part of her Memora Wrestling. |
