Mr. Elbert Cunard Died at Mansfield

The news regrets to chronicle the death of Mr. Elbert Cunard, of Euroda, which occurred at the home of Mr. Sam Potts, of Mansfield, Monday Morning.
Mr. Cunard was in his 77th year and was one of Jasper county's stauchest and upright citizens.  The community in which he lived, and Jasper county for that matter, has lost a true and valuable man -- for Mr. Cunard always stood for all that was best and at all times he could be found where help was needed.
He was visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S.P. Potts, of Mansfield, when he was taken sick about six weeks ago.
Mr. Cunard joined the church at the age of seventeen and was ever after a tireless worker for the cause of Christ.  He gave freely of his substance and was greatly beloved by all who knew him.
Mr. Cunard served in the civil war as a gallant soldier.  He was a Mason, holding membership in the Eudora lodge.
He is survived by five children:  Mr. O.L. Cuanrd of Monticello;   Messrs John and Clark Cunard, of Eudora;  Mrs. S.P. Potts, of Mansfield;  Mrs. Bessie Davis, of Jonesboro, GA;  three brothers and two sisters, Mr. Newt Cunard and Henry Cunard, of Eudora; Mr. Clark Cunard, of Griffin, GA;  Mrs. Jane Dillard, of Eastman;  Mrs. Marthina Owens of South Carolina.  There are also twenty nine grand children.
The funeral services were held at Rocky Creek church, of which he as a member, Rev. J. J. Winburn conducting same.
The News extends sympathy to the sorrowing family.
