you knew what your fans were there for
you kept us on the edge of our seats
we shared your joy and excitement in winning
and your disappointment and agony in defeat
your were like an old friend to us
a Sunday afternoon guest
we would sit, for three or four hours
and spend time with the very best
there were times when you would push and shove
to get where you wanted to be,
even those who were cheering for someone else
were secretly watching and admiring "OUR #3"
Daytona speedway is silent now
in the pits there is no sound
Our Hero "The Intimidator"
Has made his final round
but as we all know, life goes on
as hard as it may seem
and we just want to say "Thank You Dale"
for letting us share your dream
