Autumn has arrived! Autumn has come and the weather is starting to cool . The grass is green and the kangaroo's and wallabies are every where , they have been grazing on the front lawn of the bus ( along with mobs of goats ) . I have seen two small gold nuggets detected at Easter long weekend at Turondale and a report of a Hill End local picking up 4 small ones " the other day " . Fossicking clubs have been camping down on the point and all reports are they are all getting some gold . The river is low at the moment but it is still running . Anglers caught a lot of carp from the river around the bus over Easter with the best report of 19 to one angler ! Fishing for natives at Windamere has been mixed with lure fishing being slow but bait fishing still getting good results . Sofala branch of the Central Acclimatisaion Society is being reformed and fish stocking of the river will begin in Spring . Interested people in joining can contact me on 0427652871 or attend the meeting held at Sofala 9th May at 2.00pm at the hall . Mick Brennan was busy with horse rides over the Easter break , people say it is one of the best experiences of their life taking a horse ride from the bus along the Turon River to Sofala . Mick can be contacted at www.highcountryroughrides.com or 02 63377491if you would like to experience a horse ride or muster . We have been asked by people staying at the bus if we could supply them with gold pans and we now have these for hire . People are finding their tours to Mudgee and the surrounding wineries a great experience . A lot of people are commenting on the quality of the wines from there . Hill End and Sofala are popular drives and one couple staying at the bus wrote in the visitors book that they had struck gold " It was the Sofala Pub they had discovered " We has some great guests over Easter and they really enjoyed their stay even if the weather was a bit drizzly and overcast , they have vowed to return . Camping in the bus has a lot of beneifits when the weather turns nasty ! |
