Description: Healthcare professionals attending this program will learn the pathology and diagnosis of Celiac Disease. Many patients present to their healthcare provider with a multitude of symptoms that often go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Associated diseases and treatment options will be reviewed in detail. Lecture notes and handouts will be given to participants on resources for healthcare providers as well as their patients for further use in their practices.
Program Goal:
To increase awareness of health care professionals in regards
to Celiac Disease.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the active learner will be able to:
1. Define the pathologic process of Celiac disease
including diagnosis and physical manifestations.
2. Name at least 4 associated conditions associated with Celiac Disease.
3. Name the only treatment option for Celiac Disease.
4. Describe four hidden sources of gluten.
5. Identify at least two resources for health care professionals and patients.
