Tips From Around The World

From Annie >>^..^<<:

Here is my Tip:  Since teaching quilt classes and having to take along
my unfinished tops to show, the edges are getting frayed
and I am loosing some inches on the binding.  Here are
2 options to help you tote those "tops" before you get
                            them finished:

                (1)  Sew an extra border on all sides using a basting stitch (long stitch)
from your machine.  I use either muslin or black strips.
when you are ready to finish the quilt, take off the outer border
easily by removing the "big stitches"

                 (2)  I iron 1" or 2" strips of  freezer paper around the edge of the borders
on each side.  Iron "wax" side down to the wrong side of the fabric.
This keeps it from unraveling and you can handle it without all the
strings.  When you are ready to finish the quilt -- simply peel the
                       paper off and continue.
