Student Board Presentation: Clinical Rotations
The following is a response to the student’s concerns from the representative at the rotation site.

“I spoke with Dr Rawlins about this last Friday. I have been working on
St Louis scheduling, but I am not finished with it yet. Dr Rawlins did not
give me any definite names and dates for any of the students doing split
rotations yet. But don't worry, she is working on it and has told me that
she would get me the info very soon. Please feel free to call or e-mail me
anytime. As soon as I hear anything, I will let you know. I did speak with
Dr Hall and Teresa from Cape, and they weren't aware that this was
happening, unfortunately. They didn't understand how this could be done,
but I will be doing the scheduling, and I will do my best to make everything
go as smooth as possible. Thanks for the e-mail. Keep in touch.”

This is another update:
“Travis,
I received a letter this AM in the mail from Dr. Rawlins stating "As we discussed, you will be required to complete Pediatrics and OB/Gyn in Poplar Bluff, as these rotations will not be available in St. Louis." I thought this was important #1 because she
and I specifically discussed that I had no desire to go to Poplar Bluff,
and that was why the SE MO region had not been in my top 5 choices. She
then stated that I could do all of my SE MO rotations in Cape Girardeau,
which was more acceptable to me. Apparently that is not the case now,
and I wonder if it is because the Cape people had never agreed that it
was OK for me to do only a few rotations there in the first place, even
though Dr. Rawlins said that they had. And #2, I have email from her
stating that all but one rotation had been set up in St. Louis, so why 1
week later are there two that are out of St. Louis? Anyway, not that
anyone cares to read my two page letter, but just in case there is
question on how "smoothly" rotations are running, I thought I would let
you know that I am still wondering what happened in Cape G.”

A letter from a 4th year student:

“Once you enter your third and fourth year you will see that KCOM is about one
thing these days - the mighty buck. Here in Arizona we are completely
abandoned. Our only contact with KCOM is the ridiculous requirements they
come up with and the threatening letters we receive for noncompliance. There
is no attention paid to the actual rotations that we complete. If you and
your classmates do not band together you will be sorely disappointed.

Continue your efforts. We pay way too much to sit back and take everything
that happens at KCOM without stating our opinion. I would like to see the
lower class put a ribbon together that we graduating (hostages) seniors can
wear on our robes to protest the current administration at KCOM.”
