After the last board of trustees meeting in June, it was announced that KCOM will be opening a new dental school at the Arizona campus. A tentative starting class date was given within the next few years.
This endeavor is estimated to cost millions of dollars. For accreditation of a new program an entire new basic science faculty, clinical faculty, and facilities with equipment will be required to start up the new school.
This move for the college has raised serious questions regarding the finances of KCOM.
Financial for this project have been a major concern of the staff at the Kirksville campus. Numerous prestigious dental schools around the country have recently closed due to the enormous expenses incurred versus the income for the universities.
