Education/Starfleet:
Background:
Jax parents are both history professors (father - military history, mother - late 20th century), so they moved around several times while the kids were young, going from one university to the next participating in research projects and lecture series. Jax had a hard time making friends as a consequence of the frequent moving. However, her brother, Mikey, although 4 years younger than her, became her best friend. They spent hours playing all kinds of games together, talking, dreaming about their futures. Both wanted to be accepted into Starfleet Academy, and their greatest hope came true when both parents were asked to join the faculty at the Academy. A few years later when she was eligible, Jax applied and was accepted, followed by her brother 4 years later. Her brother has only recently graduated and is a Conn officer on the USS Avenger.

Jax's Academy History is a little different from most. She applied, and entered the Academy on the command track. However, during a training mission in her second year, her ship suffered serious damage during an encounter with a subspace anomaly. Sickbay was understaffed for the magnitude of the tragedy and Jax was forced to help out as a medic. Rather than being scared and disgusted by the gruesome sights before her of mangled and injured crewmembers, she found herself exhilarated at being able to save people's lives. Her interest in medicine stimulated, she found herself enthralled during the following semester's Field Medicine Class. Realizing that her true calling was Medicine instead of command, she went to the Commandant's
office and requested a transfer to Starfleet Medical. After an extensive talk in which the Commandant was truly impressed with the enthusiasm and dedication  that the young cadet showed in her voice and her eyes, he granted her the rare opportunity to transfer to Starfleet Medical.

Once she started studying Medicine full-time, Jax knew she had made the right decision. Biology, Chemistry, Physiology, Anatomy...they didn't come to her as easily as other non-medical courses did, but her interest and
determination more than made up for it. She graduated in the middle of her class and then completed a year's training at the Medical Institute, focusing on her surgical and diagnostic skills.

Upong completion of her year's training, she was assigned to the USS Odyssey as an Assistant Medical Officer.
Personality Profile:
Her charming and easy-going way contribute to her excellent bedside manner. Jax is serious when it comes to medicine, but very adventurous and spirited outside of work. She combines her love of the outdoors with her penchant for fun, making rock-climbing, mountain biking, and fishing her favorite pasttimes.
