Because of the extremely clear skies in Nevada Rebecca became interested in the stars at a very early age. After attending the normal schools (elementary, high school) and finding a way to pursue that interest, Rebecca attended the University of California at Berkley because of their outstanding astronomy and SETI program. After graduation Rebecca applied to the Starfleet Officer Cadet Training School - OCTS - was accepted and found an outlet there for her pursuit of science and astronomy. While at the Starfleet OCTS she was asked if she wanted to apply for a residency program that was being held on the planet Vulcan. This program was being opened only to Starfleet students that were on the verge of graduation. Rebecca accepted and spent the next two years on Vulcan. While she was there she submerged herself in the study of Kolinar-the complete removal of emotions. Also while there Rebecca had several tutors as well as many candid conversations with those who taught her why the absence of emotion and the Vulcan way of logical thinking was a better way.
After graduation from Starfleet Rebecca was assigned to several ships where she learned the necessity of learning both the Klingon and Romulan languages. Someday she hoped to be able to visit those planets.
Rebecca Katz enjoys laughing however she is also secretive. This can make her an ideal person for an away mission as she tends not to talk about things to others, but it can mean she tends to carry things inside of here. Things she needs to talk about.
Ms Katz has a high tolerance to pain - blocking pain was something she learned on Vulcan.
Simple things seem to make her happy, the gift of a flower, a smile, the smell of freshly baked bread (almost a lost art). Ms Katz tends to be very tenacious and will tackle a problem until it is completed. She is also like a sponge. Willing to experience new situations.
Ms. Katz, with a little guidance and care should turn out to be an asset to any ship in Starfleet's fleet.
