Media knew that communication was the direction for her once she finished high school. Being the middle child of four children she had been the main person sending messages back and forth. She learned to love it and integrated it fully into her personality.
She did a year of college at the University of California San Diego, when she saw a panel of Star Fleet officers. Immediately curious, she asked questions. She quit college and went to Star Fleet immediately. She finished with a career in communication and operation fairly early in life.
Media grew up in a small house with two younger and older brother and sisters, she was right in the middle. Her family was very close and so she never really felt left out.
Her father currently has cancer and has been sick most of her life. Her family has always did everything they could to take care, but it's obvious that he won't be living long. It's something that stays on Media's mind on and off, but she continues protraying a cheerful lifestyle.
Media has always had a hard time in relationships. She tends to dominante over her partner or be too busy to give them the attention they need. After being left at the altar because she was an hour late (I mean REALLY!!) she was fed up with men not understanding her. She is considering either, giving up on relationships completely or become a lesbian- whichever comes first.
