TEXTURING
TEXTURING is one aspect of the Walls & Ceilings
Industry that revolves purely around individual taste. There are several
'old standard' textures you see everywhere, popcorn, swirl, knockdown and
even with these, everyone of them will have a different look. We deal
with this a lot in our travels doing patch repairs that have to match an
existing texture. Sometimes it takes a while before you find the right
tool to get a matching finish, it can be an adventure. Then you have the
bizarre
requests that I'm sure only the person asking for it will like. I did a
texture once that the wife loved and the husband hated......my opinion
.............I'll reserve the right to just do the work and not put my
personnal taste into it. The bottom line is, if you have an idea for a texture,
'ASK' and we'll see what we can do.
The reason I included this section in my links was to
give you this 'one piece of advice'. If you plan on selling your house in
the near future, the best move is to keep your walls and ceilings flat,
smooth and free of cracks. This will appeal to pretty much everyone.
Even if they can see adding texture in the future themselves, it'll be
up to them. Everyone will make changes to personalize their new home.
BUT, if your staying put and a purple ceiling on
a popcorn texture turns you on, GO FOR IT!!!!!
