We moved from Kansas City, Missouri to a small town in Kansas when the boys were small. I felt it was a better place to raise them, with fishing, hunting, a smaller school, closer friends. They were able to have a little more freedom than if we had lived in the big city. We lived in Kansas for 12 years before moving back to the city. Both Jesse and Jeff work for the same company, doing chimney and fireplace repair and replacement. They have grown to be handsome and down to earth men, but in my eyes...they are still the boys who played in my yard building roads for Matchbox Cars, climbing trees, bicycles laying where they stopped, legos being stepped on in the middle of the night, grass never growing where they played. Their T-ball, pitchball, little league, baseball, basketball and football games are all over now. They used to fight like brothers growing up, but came to an age where they became friends, and to this day, seem more like friends than brothers. I admire that they are taking their time, time to live, work, and get to know who they are before marrying and having children. They have taught me a lot about life, and I wouldn't trade them for the world. And ya know what?.....I wish I had a yard where grass couldn't grow again...... |
