| Trucker Buddy is a pen-pal program matching over-the-road truck drivers with grade school classes worldwide. The drivers add to the classroom experience by sharing their travels, using their daily work experiences to aid in understanding various studies in a fun and informative way. Reading and writing skills are used while the driver shares geography and safety lessons among others. Many drivers send interesting items they find to let the classes see first hand what they study, as well as photos from across the country. | I have been participating in the Trucker Buddy Intl. program since 1999, and have found it to be a fun way to share. As teachers moved on, I have been taken over by others at the same school, or changed schools myself. Drivers are subject to background checks, and can be banned from the program for misconduct. I currently write to classes at Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Jersey, Tylertown Elementary in Tylertown, Mississippi, and Akin Elementary in Wylie, Texas. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
