Here is the Kenya bedding set we purchased. It is discontinued, so we had to act FAST! Next to it is the Simmons Berkley crib we got at Baby Supermart.
Originally, I had this big plan for a jungle/animal nursery, but we ran into some availability issues. KidsLine has discontinueed the Kenya bedding set, so instead of going to Plan B, I went out and purchased what they had left at Babies R Us. As Dr. Gary has always said- if you like something buy it now, because when you go back it may not be there!
We bought the Simmons Berkley crib because it is going to be a legit piece of furniture for a long time. It is big, heavy, and converts to a full size bed. It was originally $800, but we got a "steal" at $298 since it is a discontinued model as well.
BEFORE So, the "nursery" as it existed as a crafting/storage room. I had my "scrapbooking central" set up which I moved to the basement. Mike does all of his ironing here, and we put away my "normal" clothes into bins for storage for the next 9-12 months.
PARTIALLY COMPLETE CLOSET Mike and I did "demo" on the existing closet. It was a horrible "contractor special" of 2 - 2x4s, a piece of particle board and a metal rod. We hooked this baby up with a new closet system! What she doesn't know is the dresser is already stuffed with clothes! I picked out this color paint- it's a light lavender color in a Satin finish. You can find it at Lowe's, part of the Seaside Retreat Signature Colors Series. We LOVE Lowe's American Tradition paint- I hightly recommend it!!
PAINTING IN PROGRESS After it took what seemed like forever to finally empty the room, we got down to some serious taping and painting. Mike spent all day one Sunday painting the nursery violet for his little "Lillybean." Lucky for him the Eagles had the week off.
ALMOST DONE! With the purple painting done we decided to load back in some of the room. K.C. was excited to put the Monkey clock & switchplate cover up. (The monkey's tail is a swinging pendulum!!!) Most important was putting all of Lilly's clothes back into her closet because we were running out of room storing her stuff in our bedroom. The only thing left before we have the furniture delivered is to paint the trim and doors white!
