Within the next few weeks the health education class will be participating in abstinence based sexuality curriculum. This program uses multiple resources from professional and reputable educational curriculums that promote a positive approach to sexual abstinence. This unit will use the Sex Can Wait curriculum as its base.
The program will go over sexually transmitted diseases (HIV/AIDS, i.e.), consequences, date rape, and healthy relationships. Also, the program will focus on self-esteem, decision-making skills, refusal skills, and goal setting.
If a student is not given parental permission to participate in the human sexuality program, the student will be given an alternative program that will require the student to study in an alternative setting.
Your permission is required for your child to participate in this program. Please sign and return the permission slip below. Materials from the program are available at the school for your review.
