Health Project

Prepare a two page information site about your chosen drug problem. The health class will spend 1 to 2 days conducting research. The research time is graded out of a possible 20 points. Be sure to use information published within the past 4 years. The project can be done on power point, but the information should still be in the same format. All web sites should come from .org or .gov sites.

1. Panel 1: Title page - The following should be included:
   • Title (the drug)
   • Picture of the drug
   • Name
   • Teachers name
   • Class period
   • Due date
2. Panel 2,3 and 4 - Describe the following:
   • The background/history of the drug (what is it used for legally/its purpose)
   • The drug problem. How does the drug effect the user physically (heart rate), mentally (depression), and socially (isolated)?
   • What signs and symptoms might you physically see if the person is high (poor coordination)?
   • How does the drug effect someone's behavior?
   • How large is the drug problem and what are the trends (this can include the number of teens who use the drug or have a problem with the drug)?
   • What causes a person/teenager to be at risk for taking a drug illegally?
3. Panel 5 Treatment
   • Describe the type of treatment that someone can go through when addicted to a particular drug (example A.A. for alcoholics)?
4. Panel 6 Resources
   • Identify 3 community resources that can help people with this drug problem.
   • Include:
     • Agency name
     • Agency address (if possible)
     • Agency phone number
     • Services provided (if possible)
   • References
     • Also include all the references you used to prepare the pamphlet.
