WEAR YOUR SEATBELT!

Buckle in roof.
On the left end of the red plastic piece is where my left leg hit it and transfered  the paint to my pant leg. The piece is called a Knee Bolster and is below the steering column. Yes, it hurt!
Yes, the air bag deployed but I'm not sure I even hit it. No rash on my face, no black eye, etc. The seat belt did most of the work. That's why air bags are called SUPPLEMENTAL restraint devices.
Travelling west on K-10 highway at 65 mph, a truck crossed the highway in front of me at an intersection. I didn't get a chance to slow down much. One witness said I had no chance to avoid the truck. This was a HUGE impact, and LOUD!

Just remember, I WALKED AWAY! I did get a few bruises (one bad one where my left shin/knee hit the dash), a concussion, and strained muscles in the back of my neck and upper back.
According to the witnesses, the truck got airborne and the back of my car came off the ground (I apparently went under the truck somewhat). No, I didn't get to see all this happen! My view was filled with the truck itself, coolant from my radiator bursting, the hood coming up, the airbag in my face, and gasses from the air bag as it deflated and filled the interior.
